Horseback Safari – An Introduction

For our family trip to Zimbabwe, we wanted an adventure where everyone could participate and still have fun. Cawston Encounters delivered beyond our expectations with an incredible horse safari that became the highlight of our stay.

From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel at home. With varying riding experience in our family, we were a little nervous, Georgie was fantastic, pairing each of us with a horse suited to our comfort level.

Horseback Safari – Experience

Riding through the bush felt magical. Unlike a vehicle safari, being on horseback at Cawston Encounters made us feel truly part of the wilderness, providing a vantage point that felt intimate and unobtrusive. We saw so many animals on our rides and had giraffes watching us curiously, even a young giraffe wanted to come check us out!

The sunset ride was a highlight. As the sky turned brilliant shades of orange and purple, we stopped at a scenic viewpoint for sundowners. Sitting together around the fire, surrounded by the wild beauty of Zimbabwe, was a moment of peace and connection I’ll never forget.

This was one of our best family holidays. The horses were gentle, the guides were knowledgeable, and the experience felt perfectly tailored to families.
